Job summary

Vestis is seeking a Fleet Mechanic in New Jersey to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on our fleet vehicles. You will work under the Lead Mechanic or management, focusing on safety, cost control, and timely service.

The role requires at least two years of hands-on fleet repair experience and a High School Diploma or GED, with an associate degree in Automotive Technology preferred. Expect day/evening shifts and adherence to DOT and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Two years or more of experience in fleet vehicle mechanical repairs including general maintenance and repair, wiring, engine overhaul and preventive maintenance scheduling.
• High School Diploma or GED; Associates degree in Automotive Technology preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles to meet 100% compliance of standards.
• Utilize the AVMS fleet management system to track shop operations and duties.
• Assist with cost control through purchasing, inventory management, and safety training to minimize vehicle costs.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and ensure OSHA standards are met in the work area.
• Routinely inspect vehicles and perform repairs on brakes, tires, electrical, suspension, and lift gates as needed.
