The City of Broken Arrow is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to ensure repairs and maintenance of emergency fire protection and public safety vehicles. The role requires a high school diploma, ASE certifications, and significant experience in heavy and emergency vehicle repairs. A strong emphasis is placed on safety and compliance with industry standards. This position involves physical tasks and a commitment to ongoing training and skill development.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Under general supervision, performs repair and maintenance of emergency fire protection and public safety vehicles and equipment. Also performs preventative maintenance, routine repairs, and emergency repairs on all City-owned vehicles, including construction equipment, automobiles, light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, fire apparatus, ambulances, police pursuit units, and other fleet assets.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by five to seven years of experience in gasoline, diesel, and hydraulic mechanics, including two years in heavy equipment and/or emergency vehicles; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Class B CDL upon hire and obtain a Class A CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsements within 18 months. Additionally, must hold and maintain ASE Master certification in Medium/Heavy Truck or Automobile and Light Truck, or EVT Master Technician, and obtain a Motor Vehicle A/C license within 6 months.
Fleet Certification and Progression
Obtaining ASE certifications demonstrates career ownership and can lead to additional pay ($25 per certification, up to five). Certifications include ASE Advanced Engine Performance Specialist (L1) and ASE Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnosis Specialist (L2).
Tasks involve physical effort, including lifting and carrying objects up to 150 pounds, climbing, crawling, crouching, and other physical activities necessary for heavy work.
