Job summary

City of Amarillo is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on a range of city fleet vehicles and equipment. The role requires diagnosing issues, maintaining service records, and ensuring compliance with state and federal standards.

Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed and will be considered weather essential personnel. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, two years of automotive repair

Qualifications

  • Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent and a minimum of two years of automotive repair experience.
  • EPA 609 Technician Certification, required.
  • State Inspector License, required.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification preferred.
  • Valid Texas Class A CDL Driver’s License Required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance and services on fleet vehicles and various equipment.
  • Maintains records of all services and repairs.
  • Diagnoses potential vehicle malfunctions using diagnostic equipment.
  • Performs state inspections to ensure safe operating condition.
  • Maintains and repairs heavy equipment including HVAC, diesel engines, and transmissions.
  • Trains other employees as necessary.
  • Operates tow truck and responds to emergencies as needed.
