Job summary

Williamson County is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to perform routine and preventive maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles and heavy equipment. You will diagnose using scan tools, service air conditioning systems, and perform mechanical work from pumps to batteries, while using a range of tools and equipment.

Specialized body shop duties include frame straightening, welding, painting, and preparation for auctions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of vehicle and equipment maintenance experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must provide own hand tools
  • Prior experience with scan tools, shop gauges, and welding
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Basic computer skills such as email, word processing programs, and data entry

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance to ensure proper functioning of vehicles and equipment
  • Diagnose vehicles using scan tools and laptop
  • Repairs on air conditioning systems for automotive, medium-heavy, and heavy trucks
  • Performs mechanical work including pumps, radiators, belts, hoses, fuses, and batteries
  • Operates hand, power, and shop tools; supports body shop repairs
  • Responds to service calls and retrieves or repairs vehicles in the field
  • Assists inventory with parts; transports vehicles
  • Oversees autobody repairs and estimates costs
