City of Boise seeks an entry-level mechanic who thrives on hands-on work and solving mechanical problems. You will service turf, off-road, and construction equipment in a shop environment, gaining broad exposure to engines, hydraulics, electrical systems and more.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical/trade training, or equivalent military training.
• 4 years of experience in an automobile, heavy truck or equipment maintenance/repair organization.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs entry level mechanic duties and mentors others.
• Conducts preventive maintenance and safety inspections on vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnoses issues, installs and repairs specialized equipment and systems.
• Repairs, rebuilds or replaces components using specialty tools.
• Documents repairs in fleet program and performs fabrication and welding.
• Coordinates services with department designees and informs on repair status.
• Assists with ordering parts and services and processes repair orders.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
