Job summary

Herc Rentals Inc. is seeking a Mechanic B in Boise, ID to perform preventive maintenance and intermediate diagnostics on a diverse fleet. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, order parts, and help mentor junior technicians. This role requires strong schematics reading and a solid tool set, with daily shop duties indoors and outdoors.

The position emphasizes safety, thorough documentation, and contributing to a high standard of equipment readiness for rental customers.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Own a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools.
Ability to drive and operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
Demonstrated proficiency in all Mechanic C-level tasks.
Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems; ability to read schematics.

Responsibilities

Maintain a consistent schedule of preventative maintenance on all Herc-owned fleet at the branch.
Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
Replace oil filters, fuel filters, water pumps, thermostats, and radiators.
Diagnose and repair cooling systems and electrical and fuel systems; troubleshoot wiring and sensors.
Use computerized tools to trace and diagnose electrical faults and other issues.
Enter and review work orders and complete part ordering via the fleet management system.
Assist shop lead with customer damage estimates and repairs and mentor Mechanic C technicians.
