Job summary

SpiveyServices in Virginia offers traffic control, equipment rentals, and portable sanitation services. The Mechanic will maintain and repair the fleet, trailers, and sanitation equipment to keep field operations safe and productive.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years diesel and general mechanic experience, can lift up to 50 pounds, and are willing to travel to other offices or jobsites as needed. Must work independently and prioritize repairs in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of diesel mechanic experience.
• Five (5) years of general mechanic experience.
• Ability to perform physical work and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Experience operating large non-CDL trucks (20'–24').
• Willingness to travel/mobilize to other offices or jobsites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain company vehicles, trailers, equipment, and machinery.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, fluid checks, lubrication, filter replacements).
• Identify issues and complete repairs in a timely manner.
• Conduct inspections to ensure safe operation and compliance with standards.
• Maintain accurate repair, maintenance, inspections, parts usage, and service schedules.

PositionSummary

Theidealcandidatebringsstrongexperiencewithgasanddiesel-poweredequipment,solidtroubleshootingskills,andaconsistentfocusonsafetyandefficiency.TheMechanicmustbeabletoworkindependently,prioritizerepairseffectively,respondquicklytooperationalneeds,andmobilizetoothercompanyofficesorjobsitesasrequired.

KeyResponsibilities

• Maintainaccuraterecordsofrepairs,maintenanceactivities,inspections,partsusage,andserviceschedules.
• Coordinatewithsupervisorsandoperationspersonneltoprioritizerepairsandminimizeequipmentdowntime.
• Repairandmaintaintrafficcontrolequipment,sanitationequipment,trailers,andotheroperationalassetsasassigned.
• Order,track,andmaintaininventoryofparts,tools,supplies,andshopequipment.
• Respondtobreakdownsandequipmentfailures,includingfieldservicecallswhennecessary.
• Ensureallworkiscompletedinaccordancewithcompanysafetypoliciesandapplicableregulations.
• Maintainaclean,organized,andsafeshopandworkenvironment.
• Operatecompanyvehiclesandequipmentinasafeandresponsiblemanner.
• Assistwithequipmentsetup,inspections,andoperationalreadinessforfieldcrews.
• Communicatemaintenanceneeds,repairrecommendations,andequipmentstatusupdatestomanagement.
• Performotherdutiesasassignedtosupportoperationalneeds.
