Job summary

SpiveyServices in Virginia is seeking a Fleet Mechanic responsible for the maintenance, repair, and readiness of the company’s fleet, trailers, and sanitation equipment across multiple service lines. You will perform inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to keep assets safe and available for field operations.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with gas and diesel-powered equipment, solid troubleshooting skills, and a safety-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• 5+ years diesel mechanic experience.
• 5+ years general mechanic experience.
• Ability to perform physical work and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Experience operating large non-CDL trucks (20'–24').
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with safety focus.
• Willingness to travel to other offices or job sites.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain company vehicles, trailers, equipment, and machinery.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance including oil changes, fluid checks, lubrication, filters, and scheduled service intervals.
• Identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and engine issues and complete repairs promptly.
• Conduct inspections to ensure safe operating conditions and compliance with standards.
• Maintain records of repairs, maintenance, inspections, parts usage, and services.
• Coordinate with supervisors to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime.
• Repair and maintain traffic control equipment, sanitation equipment, trailers, and other assets.
• Order, track, and maintain inventory of parts, tools, and shop supplies.
• Respond to breakdowns and field service calls as needed.
• Ensure all work complies with safety policies and regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
• Operate company vehicles and equipment safely.
• Assist with equipment setup, inspections, and readiness for field crews.
• Communicate maintenance needs and equipment status to management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

KeyResponsibilities
