Job summary

LEHR in Lakewood, WA is seeking a General Fleet Mechanic to service emergency and specialty vehicles, including police, fire, EMS fleets. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, brake repair, and electrical work on 12V systems, with aftermarket lighting and equipment experience preferred.

Ideal candidates will read drawings, use diagnostic tools, and be able to lift 50 lbs. The role requires independence, strong safety standards, and commitment to quality in a fleet service setting.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read manufacturer's drawings and manuals.
• Must have basic computer and internet literacy.
• Knowledgeable and experienced operating hand, power, and shop tools.
• Keep shop equipment operating (maintain, troubleshoot, repair, etc.)
• Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.
• Use computer diagnostic equipment.
• Must have own tools.
• Must respect and work positively with first responders and law enforcement.
• Must be detail oriented with strong work ethic.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in/around vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Provide general vehicle repairs (brakes, tires, suspension and technical systems, etc.)
• Provide 12V electrical such as light head replacement, speaker replacement, post collision replacement to push bumpers and equipment removal
• Troubleshoot and interpret manufacturers drawings
• Diagnose using diagnostic equipment
• EVT certification will be required within 12 months of hire (we will help with prep)
