Job summary

The City of Salisbury seeks a Fleet Services Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on Class 1–8 vehicles, construction equipment, and fire apparatus. You will keep accurate records of all work and operate diverse systems with care.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 2+ years in vehicle repair or technical training, and a NC CDL with passenger/tanker endorsements; ASE/EVT certifications are encouraged and a $2,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of vehicle repair experience or technical training.
• Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and tanker endorsements.
• Ability to obtain ASE and EVT certifications.
• Self-starter with leadership and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Class 1–8 vehicles and equipment.
• Inspect gas/diesel engines, electrical, brakes, transmission, hydraulics, and air systems.
• Diagnose drivability and electrical/electronic issues.
• Maintain accurate repair records and files.
• Operate tools safely; weld and fabricate steel parts.
