Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Mechanic B in St. Peters, MO to perform preventative maintenance and intermediate diagnostics on a diverse fleet. The role requires basic mechanical knowledge, tool ownership, and the ability to read schematics.

You will support maintenance operations, mentor Mechanic C-level staff, and ensure safety and quality in repairs. The position emphasizes hands-on work, adherence to OEM guidelines, and effective documentation of service activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ownership of a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services.
• Ability to drive and operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in all Mechanic C-level tasks.
• Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems; ability to read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on all Herc-owned fleet at the branch.
• Carry out oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication independently.
• Diagnose and repair cooling, fuel, and electrical systems; identify faulty components.
• Use fleet management systems to enter and review work orders and manage parts.
• Assist shop lead and train Mechanic C technicians; maintain logs and reports.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and follow procedures.
