Job summary

Herc Rentals seeks a Mechanic B in Long Beach, CA to support fleet maintenance and keep equipment on the rental 'ready line'. The role emphasizes preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs, plus mentoring Mechanic C technicians.

Perform routine services, inspect cooling and electrical systems, and document work orders while upholding safety and quality standards across branch operations. A solid foundation and keen attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Owns a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services.
• Ability to drive and operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in all Mechanic C-level tasks.
• Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems; ability to read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a consistent schedule of preventative maintenance on all Herc-owned fleet at the branch.
• Diagnose and repair cooling systems and electrical issues.
• Use computerized tools to trace and diagnose electrical faults and sensors.
• Enter and review work orders and complete part ordering via the fleet management system.
• Mentor Mechanic C technicians and assist shop lead as needed.
