Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking an entry-level Mechanic C to support fleet maintenance operations at the St. Louis, MO area. You will learn standard operating procedures across branch, regional, and national levels and perform preventative and corrective maintenance to keep equipment on the rental ready line.

The role emphasizes safe, professional maintenance with opportunities to grow into higher-level mechanic roles through hands-on training and mentorship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ownership of a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services.
• Ability to drive and operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on all Herc-owned fleet, including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
• Operate and test equipment to meet quality and efficiency standards, with regular inspections.
• Inspect electrical systems, batteries, wiring, and control modules; read and understand electrical schematics and meters.
• Enter work orders and complete part ordering via the fleet management system; maintain detailed service logs.
• Contribute to warranty determinations and assist in reconditioning parts as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all company procedures.
