JOB SUMMARY:
Perform maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on cars, trucks, and off-road equipment in a safe, efficient, quality-minded, and customer-focused manner. Ensure repairs adhere to manufacturer’s guidelines.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform repair work on vehicles such as breakdowns, malfunctions, and emergency roadside repairs safely and efficiently.
- Conduct operation tests prior to repairs to verify complaints.
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform basic repairs on engines, transmissions, clutches, suspension, steering, fuel and ignition systems (gas and diesel), electrical systems, brakes, and HVAC systems following manufacturer specifications.
- Follow documentation procedures including recording mileage/hours, saving and tagging warranty and core parts, and completing work orders with complaint, cause, and correction details. Manage parts ordering and billing processes.
- Perform final operational tests on all vehicles to ensure quality repairs.
- Maintain cleanliness of company vehicles after repairs.
- Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance to maximize safety, productivity, and vehicle lifespan, including fluid changes, lubrications, safety inspections, and brake repairs on trucks and off-road equipment.
- Assess vehicles for additional safety or repair needs, including cracks or damage.
- Assist field teams during projects when shortfalls occur.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of engines, controls, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, and ANSI A92.2 guidelines.
- Skilled in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems on trucks and equipment.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions with standard mechanic tools.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- HD truck technical training or at least 2 years of related experience.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (strongly preferred).
- DOT Certification knowledge.
- ASE certifications (not required but preferred).
- Welding capability is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Visual acuity including distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, push/pull, grasp tools, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders up to 20 feet high.
- Exposure to extreme climates, including cold and temperatures up to 140 degrees.
