Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Perform maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on cars, trucks, and off-road equipment in a safe, efficient, quality-minded, and customer-focused manner. Ensure repairs adhere to manufacturer’s guidelines.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform repair work on vehicles such as breakdowns, malfunctions, and emergency roadside repairs safely and efficiently.
2. Conduct operation tests prior to repairs to verify complaints.
3. Diagnose malfunctions and perform basic repairs on engines, transmissions, clutches, suspension, steering, fuel and ignition systems (gas and diesel), electrical systems, brakes, and HVAC systems following manufacturer specifications.
4. Follow documentation procedures including recording mileage/hours, saving and tagging warranty and core parts, and completing work orders with complaint, cause, and correction details. Manage parts ordering and billing processes.
5. Perform final operational tests on all vehicles to ensure quality repairs.
6. Maintain cleanliness of company vehicles after repairs.
7. Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance to maximize safety, productivity, and vehicle lifespan, including fluid changes, lubrications, safety inspections, and brake repairs on trucks and off-road equipment.
8. Assess vehicles for additional safety or repair needs, including cracks or damage.
9. Assist field teams during projects when shortfalls occur.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

1. Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
2. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
3. Knowledge of engines, controls, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, and ANSI A92.2 guidelines.
4. Skilled in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems on trucks and equipment.
5. Ability to perform repetitive motions with standard mechanic tools.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

1. HD truck technical training or at least 2 years of related experience.
2. Valid commercial driver’s license (strongly preferred).
3. DOT Certification knowledge.
4. ASE certifications (not required but preferred).
5. Welding capability is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Visual acuity including distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
2. Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, push/pull, grasp tools, and lift up to 50 lbs.
3. Ability to climb ladders up to 20 feet high.
4. Exposure to extreme climates, including cold and temperatures up to 140 degrees.

Travel Required: 5%
