Job summary

Kelly Generator & Equipment, Inc. is seeking an experienced Fleet Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of service vehicles, trucks, trailers, and equipment across the Mid‑Atlantic region.

You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs while documenting service history to support field operations. Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on company vehicles, trucks, trailers, and equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify potential safety concerns and maintenance needs.
  • Perform oil changes, brake repairs, suspension repairs, tire services, fluid services, and general mechanical repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine‑related issues.
  • Troubleshoot vehicle and equipment failures using diagnostic tools and technical resources.
  • Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high‑quality workmanship.
  • Diagnose vehicle and equipment issues through systematic troubleshooting.
  • Utilize computerized diagnostic equipment, service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical resources.
  • Identify root causes of failures and recommend appropriate repairs.
  • Communicate repair needs, parts requirements, and estimated timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used, and maintenance history.
  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain fleet readiness for field service operations.
  • Assist with tracking parts, inventory, and repair‑related expenses.
  • Ensure all work is completed according to manufacturer specifications and company safety standards.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform work in a safe manner using proper tools, equipment, and PPE.
  • Ensure vehicles and equipment meet operational and safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
  • Work closely with Service Operations, Field Technicians, and leadership to support business needs.
  • Prioritize repairs based on operational urgency.
  • Provide recommendations to improve fleet reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Support other maintenance‑related projects as needed.

Kelly Generator & Equipment, Inc. is seeking an experienced Fleet Mechanic to maintain and repair our company’s fleet of service vehicles, trucks, trailers, and equipment that support our generator sales, rental, and service operations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

The Fleet Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring KGE’s fleet remains safe, reliable, and operational through preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, inspections, and accurate service documentation. This role requires a hands‑on technician who can independently troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, prioritize repairs, and help keep our field technicians moving and serving customers.

The ideal candidate has experience working on commercial vehicles, diesel engines, fleet equipment, or heavy‑duty machinery and takes pride in quality workmanship, safety, and keeping equipment ready for operation.

Responsibilities:
Fleet Maintenance & Repairs
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on company vehicles, trucks, trailers, and equipment.

  • 3+ years of experience as a mechanic, fleet technician, diesel technician, or heavy equipment technician.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive, diesel, or commercial vehicle systems.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot engines, brakes, suspension, drivetrains, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality repairs.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to mechanical equipment, noise, grease, and outdoor conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate tools and equipment required for repairs.
