We are seeking a skilled mechanic to perform journey-level maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty trucks, off-road equipment, and fire apparatus. This position is within our Public Works department. A Class A CDL with air brake, tanker, and passenger endorsements is required, or the ability to obtain one.

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
  • Associate's degree, 2 years of technical/trade school or equivalent military training, and 4 years of experience in automobile, heavy truck, or equipment maintenance or repair,
  • or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensing And Other Requirements
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License with air brakes and passenger endorsement.
Applicants Must Be Able To Pass
  • City of Boise background check processes, including criminal history and reference checks.
  • Driving Record Check.
  • Drug-Free Workplace: This position is safety-sensitive and subject to drug testing, including pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident testing. A negative drug test is required prior to hire.
  • Must have a CDL capable of handling a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 or more pounds.
