We are seeking a Fleet Mechanic to join our hardworking, fast-paced team. The Fleet Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing bakery vehicles (route and transport trucks), trailers, and converter dollies. The role includes accurate documentation of all inspections and repairs, and may also involve maintenance on forklifts and similar equipment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and safety inspections on tractors, including lubrication, fluid changes, and replacement of belts, hoses, and lights on gas, diesel, and propane vehicles.
• Replace water pumps, fuel pumps, alternators, starters, radiators, brakes, exhaust systems, batteries, transmissions, and other related parts to ensure safe operation.
• Reassemble engine components and reinstall engines after overhauls.
• Travel weekly to remote locations for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain detailed service records as per company standards.
• Assist other mechanics as needed.
• Keep work areas clean and organized.
• Support a safe work environment by following safety protocols and reporting hazards.
• Adhere to company core values.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Shift & hours: Flexible scheduling including days, swings, or graveyard shifts, Monday through Sunday.
• CDL-A driver’s license required.
• Knowledge of engine, chassis, and body repairs.
• Experience with heavy-duty diesel and gasoline trucks; propane lift trucks experience is a plus.
• Welding and minor fabrication skills.
• DOT certification for air brake inspection and repair.
• Own mechanic tools required.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• High attention to detail and quality workmanship.
• Good judgment and decision-making skills.
• Frequent contact with co-workers and management.
• Personal tool inventory required.
• Ability to lift materials from floor to 7 feet, stand for 8+ hours, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Work at heights using ladders, lifts, etc.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, jacks, cherry pickers, etc.
• All PPE provided by United States Bakery.
