Job summary

Florida Rock & Tank Lines Inc is seeking a Fleet Dispatcher to create and modify driver schedules, coordinate local and long-distance moves, and ensure efficient delivery to customers.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and adherence to safety policies. Bachelor’s degree preferred; dispatch experience highly preferred; salary-based schedule.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify drivers’ schedules to ensure efficient delivery.
• Monitor fuel usage and decide on load diverting and delivery changes.
• Determine trips and assign drivers and equipment.
• Supervise drivers and ensure safety of loads.
• Coordinate terminal activities and process customer delivery orders.
• Ensure drivers follow Fleet Manager directions.
• Investigate and resolve customer complaints.
• Enforce company safety policy during loading, unloading and driving.

Job description

Duties and Responsibilities:Create and modify drivers’ schedules independently as dictated by customer needs and to ensure the most efficient delivery to customersMonitor fuel usage and make independent decisions about when and where to deliver fuel, including decisions regarding diverting loads, cancelling deliveries and adding deliveries as needed;Determine number of trips and vehicles to run, assign drivers and equipment to runs;Supervise drivers including ensuring the safety of drivers' loadsCoordinate daily terminal activities by taking customer delivery orders via, telephone, fax or in person;Review and complete the order process and prepare the schedules for local and long-distance movesEnsure that drivers follow direction of Fleet Managers with respect to load diversions and changes to routesUse judgment in determining whether a driver appears fit for duty and send drivers home who do not appear capable of working safelyComply with all Federal, State and local rules & regulationsAid drivers in locating difficult addressesIndependently investigate and resolve customer complaintsInterpret and enforce company policiesReinforces compliance of company safety policy with drivers while loading, unloading and driving.Knowledge and Skills:Strong oral presentation skillsStrong to intermediate computer skillsAble to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work independentlyAbility to work on a salary basis with a non-standard schedule and fluctuating hours.Education and Work Experience:Bachelor’s degree preferredDispatch experience highly preferredPhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
