Job summary

World Group, a family of brands including ContainerPort Group, is seeking a Fleet Manager for a newly opened Charlotte terminal. This role links drivers to customers and requires building trust with our owner-operators while ensuring on-time service and safety.

You will lead a fleet of independent contractors, oversee load assignments, negotiate rates, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive efficiency and profitability in day-to-day operations at the Charlotte site.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of intermodal/container transportation experience.
• Working knowledge of DOT regulations.
• Experience working with fleet of contractors/owner operators.
• Exemplary customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strategic thinker in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to prioritize and execute time-sensitive tasks.
• Computerized dispatch skills (TMS) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and supervise our fleet of owner-operators.
• Monitor and ensure delivery performance, fleet profitability and regulatory compliance.
• Assign equipment as needed.
• Maximize efficiency and profitability of every delivery.
• Oversee equitable distribution of loads among contractors.
• Plan and execute order of deliveries for efficient load/drop-offs.
• Coordinate with Customer Success team and accept/decline loads.
