Vehicle Fleet Manager – Tempe, AZ
IMMEDIATELY HIRING! FULL-TIME VEHICLE FLEET MANAGER
Salary: $80,000-$100,000 (starting pay)
We are hiring a Vehicle Fleet Manager to oversee staff and operations of the Fleet Services Department, ensuring all responsibilities are met as outlined in the mechanic job description.
Essential Duties and Functions
- Oversee fleet inventory purchases.
- Manage the department’s fiscal programs, including budget preparation and monitoring.
- Negotiate with vendors and track warranty work.
- Assist in daily maintenance projects of the Fleet department.
- Manage various special Fleet projects.
- Provide leadership and management to staff.
- Identify the most efficient methods for repairing and maintaining the operational fleet.
- Assist with completing forms and reports as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Division General Manager.
- Inventory supplies and request needed materials.
- Stay informed of economic conditions and recommend adjustments to the Division General Manager.
- Act as a knowledgeable mentor, motivator, and lead by example for staff.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
- Coordinate with General Managers to maintain service levels.
- Design and execute customer service and quality assurance programs.
- Develop and oversee the department budget.
- Supervise staff, set goals, and evaluate performance.
- Share lessons learned and best practices.
- Work independently, engaging frequently with clients face-to-face and verbally.
- Ensure coverage during absences.
- Manage personnel performance, including reviews, corrective actions, mentoring, and development plans.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10 years of fleet/mechanical experience required.
- Knowledge of OSHA and related regulations.
- Experience in expense management, purchasing, inventory control, and revenue development preferred.
- Strong management and leadership skills, with at least two years of supervisory experience.
- Diesel experience highly preferred.
- Professional appearance and manner.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Designate a replacement when necessary.
- Willingness to travel to other locations.
- High school diploma or GED; BS/BA or equivalent in a related field preferred.
- ASE and/or EVT certification required; willingness to obtain additional certifications within two years.
- Fire Department Vehicle maintenance experience preferred.
Working and Environmental Conditions
- Occasional extended hours outside normal business hours.
- Work in extreme weather conditions, noise, fumes, and odors.
- Driving approximately 10% of the time.
- Moderately high noise levels expected.
- Potential exposure to hazardous materials and infectious waste, including viruses such as HIV and Hepatitis B.
