Zipcar in Washington, DC is seeking a Fleet Manager to lead fleet operations across the region, oversee vendor relationships, and manage the vehicle lifecycle to deliver an exceptional member experience.

You will partner with Operations leadership to align with strategic goals, drive cost control, and ensure vehicles are safe, clean, and available. A Bachelor’s degree and 4–5 years in fleet/operations is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field.
• 4–5 years of operations or fleet management experience.
• Experience in a complex fleet organization.
• Ability to analyze information and drive improvements while maintaining confidentiality.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead Fleet Operations and regional fleet strategy with Operations leadership.
• Oversee in-fleeting and de-fleeting of vehicles from start to finish.
• Manage fleet costs and vendor service contracts within budget.
• Approve and code third‑party invoices; ensure accuracy via Oracle.
• Collaborate with data teams to inform repairs and lifecycle decisions.
• Hire, train, and develop fleet management staff.
• Coordinate repair lifecycle and return to rent lifecycle.
• Maintain Zipcar platform/work management system with ETA updates and notes.
• Use data daily to optimize repairs and vehicle lifecycle.

This includes leading the Fleet Operations team, managing relationships with vendors and supply chain teams, and ensuring our vehicles are safe, clean, and able to deliver an exceptional experience for our members. – this will include increasing and decreasing fleet to meet demand, managing upkeep, the repair process maintenance of vehicles, and working towards listed KPIs for your respective roles.What you’ll do:Partner with Operations leadership with strategic goals and changing initiatives; lead local teams to improve overall member satisfaction (NPS), and additional business goals.Manage the process of in-fleeting and de-fleeting vehicles from beginning to end.Responsible for maintaining fleet costs in accordance to market budget.Negotiate and manage vendor service contracts and relationships to ensure vehicles are properly maintained, repaired and cleaned to Zipcar's high standard.Oversee payment for third party vendors, and ensure invoices are coded appropriately via ORACLE.Work across Zipcar functional teams to support performance and process improvement.Responsible for the hiring, training, and development of fleet management staff including but not limited to: performance management, succession planning, goal setting, development and input performance reviews.Coordinating the repair life cycle of our vehicles from the time they require repair to the time they go back on the grid for rent.
