Job summary

Primoris T&D Services, LLC is seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee shop and fleet operations for construction equipment. You will lead diesel technicians and mechanics, ensure vehicle readiness, and drive cost control and performance analysis.

The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and knowledge of GPS/fleet software, with a focus on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement in a fast‑paced field environment.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in a managerial role with fleet management experience in construction or logistics.
• Strong leadership, analytics, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
• Familiarity with DOT/FMCSA regulations and GPS/fleet software.

Responsibilities

• Quality control of fleet tools and supplies; timely repairs on fleet vehicles.
• Decide on vehicle acquisitions; analyze fleet expenses and performance reports.
• Use fleet software and GPS to enhance tracking and vehicle performance.
• Set strategic and operational goals for the fleet and supervise maintenance.
• Hire and manage qualified mechanics; ensure work readiness of all vehicles.
• Control inventory within approved variance and prepare activity reports.

Job Overview

Job Overview: The Fleet Manager will be responsible for overall shop and fleet management. The position requires excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills to engage diesel technicians and automotive Technicians, maintain good morale among the team, and keep construction equipment in service. Requires expert technical skills and the ability to maintain the fleet of construction equipment.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Fleet Manager is responsible for quality control, of fleet tools and supplies, timely repairs on fleet vehicles.
• Making decisions regarding vehicle acquisition as well as regular analysis of fleet expense and performance reports
• Be familiar with fleet management software and GPS to enhance company tracking and vehicle performance.
• Set strategic and operational goals for the fleet.
• Performing as well as overseeing the proper maintenance and work readiness of all vehicles & Equipment.
• Supervise the organization of the fleet.
• Make decisions regarding vehicle acquisition based on need and demand.
• Sell or discard appropriately used vehicles.
• Create workplace SOPs that drive innovation for the fleet.
• Be proactive with shop repairs and fleet issues.
• Prepare reports that identify activities completed or issues encountered.
• Driving the hiring and managing of qualified mechanics.
• Successfully control inventory to within company allowed variance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in a managerial role involving fleet management, logistics, or a similar environment; along with experience working in construction.
• Good leadership and analytic qualities
• Exceptional analytical abilities and organizational skills
• Must be detailed oriented and good at problem-solving.
• Possess outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Technical knowledge of the construction industry
• The ability to multitask and prioritize.
• Great time management skills
• Be familiar with U.S. Department of Transportation rules and regulation to include an understanding of FMCSA.
• Knowledgeable in computer applications like GPS and fleet truck management
• High school diploma or GED equivalent; Technical training preferred.
