Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee the organization’s fleet of vehicles, manage maintenance schedules, and ensure safety standards across all operations.

The role involves budgeting, reporting, cost control, and collaboration with supervisors to optimize fuel and labor costs while maintaining compliance with safety policies and company procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Five years of experience in fleet maintenance or repair with two years in a supervisory role.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of fleet management and operations.
• Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prepare and adhere to a budget and to monitor and reduce expenses.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Develops schedules and procedures for routine and non-routine maintenance of the fleet.
• Collaborates with supervisors to manage and reduce fuel and labor costs.
• Establishes schedules for fleet vehicle replacement.
• Drafts and presents reports on department operations and expenses.
• Prepares and implements the departmental budget.
• Develops and enforces fleet service procedures and safety protocols.
• Performs other duties as required by management.

The Fleet Manager will oversee and maintain the organizations fleet of cars, trucks, and specialized vehicles. Their duties include managing a budget for vehicle repairs and replacements and ensuring driver candidates receive proper training to uphold safe driving standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develops schedules and procedures for and ensures adherence to routine maintenance and non-routine repair of all vehicles in the company’s fleet.
• Collaborates with supervisors and staff to manage and reduce expenses such as those for fuel and labor costs.
• Establishes a schedule for recommended replacement of fleet vehicles.
• Drafts and presents reports on department operations and expenses.
• Prepares and implements departmental budget.
• Develops and enforces procedures, policies, and safety protocols for all fleet services staff.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Education/Qualification:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• Five years of experience in fleet maintenance or repair with two years in a supervisory role required.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
• Must be able to access and navigate fleet parking lot and maintenance facilities.
