Position Overview:
As a Fleet Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on all tractor, trailers, etc., within the Fleet Maintenance Department. This role requires expertise in all trailer systems and the ability to mentor and lead junior technicians. You will ensure all repairs are documented and compliant with OSHA, state, federal, and company policies to promote a safe working environment and culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of Reefer trailers and lift gates, reporting additional repairs needed to leadership.
- Complete all necessary paperwork, equipment inspection forms, and other documents accurately and promptly, using professional language.
- Perform basic soldering and welding skills.
- Operate air-powered equipment as needed.
- Assist in maintaining a safe work environment, including facilities and service vehicles.
- Inspect, diagnose, and replace brake, electrical, wheel end, liftgate, suspension, and load support components.
- Diagnose and repair ABS systems.
- Refer engine component repairs (excluding refrigeration unless certified).
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair minor overhead door components.
- Perform duties independently with minimal supervision.
- Conduct major suspension overhauls, including removal and overhaul of bogie assemblies and components.
- Lead by example, mentor, and develop junior staff.
- Perform leadership responsibilities as assigned.
- Maintain records of maintenance and repairs.
- Perform regular maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations.
- Replace or repair defective parts using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Work environment varies with temperature; primarily in a shop setting with occasional outdoor work.
Schedule:
- 2nd shift: 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm
- OR
- 3rd shift: 9:00 pm - 5:30 am
Experience:
- Preferred: 5-7 years of technical experience in automotive or industrial equipment.
- Required: Federal Annual Inspection Certificate 40 CFR pt.396.19 & Brake Inspection Certificate 49 CFR pt. 396.25.
- Maintain up-to-date tools of the trade.
- Preferred: Proficiency in English (written and verbal).

- Physical abilities: Ability to lift up to 85 lbs, stand, bend, and twist for long periods, work in various temperatures, and operate material handling equipment.
