Job description

Title: Fleet Maintenance Support Tech

Location: 4822 N. Broadway, 2nd floor, Chicago, IL 60640

Schedule: Monday to Friday (8:30am-5:00pm)

Summary:

Under the general guidance of the Associate Director, the Fleet and Maintenance Support Tech is responsible for maintaining a sanitary working environment inside and outside the building, performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks, responding to emergency building issues at Heartland Human Care Services facilities, and managing fleet maintenance and compliance needs.

The Fleet and Maintenance Support Tech uses industry knowledge and best practices to support the mission and vision of Heartland Human Care Services, fostering a positive organizational culture.

Essential Functions:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary environment.
  • Oversee mechanical systems upkeep at HHCS sites.
  • Coordinate scheduled and emergency maintenance.
  • Keep maintenance records and generate reports.
  • Assist in scheduling and monitoring repairs with outside contractors.

Fleet Maintenance/Management:

  • Conduct weekly checks of vehicle logs and engine status.
  • Transport vehicles for repairs, tests, and maintenance appointments.
  • Manage scheduled maintenance, repairs, and cleanliness of vehicles.
  • Monitor repairs via Samsara reporting and coordinate services.

Training and Compliance:

  • Attend required meetings and training sessions.
  • Complete 30 hours of updated maintenance training annually.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma, two years of technical training, and three years of relevant experience, or
  • High school diploma with five years of relevant experience.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License.
  • Criminal background check required.

  • Reliable transportation and ability to work with diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
  • Strong collaboration, emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret various instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely.
  • Strategic thinking and consultancy skills.

Work Arrangement:

  • On-site position reporting to various HHCS sites, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm.

Work Environment:

  • Moderate noise level; flexible scheduling due to 24/7 program operation across multiple locations.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crawl, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must have unrestricted physical ability for restraint and vision requirements.
