Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead the branch maintenance program, supervise shop personnel, and ensure repairs and preventative maintenance are performed safely and on schedule.

You will oversee vehicle and equipment repairs, maintain compliance with safety standards, and coordinate with management to optimize operations while keeping records up to date and adhering to company policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• DOT certification for air brake inspection and Annual Vehicle Inspections.
• CDL Class B within 6 months of hire.
• Prior supervisory experience in a shop or maintenance setting desired.
• Full set of hand tools required.
• Knowledge of welding, compactor repair, air brake inspection, vehicle inspections.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise all employees in the maintenance department through planning and directing work.
• Make repairs to vehicles and equipment and follow-up on repairs.
• Establish and enforce a preventative maintenance program with scheduling and follow-up.
• Maintain all vehicle inspection, maintenance and safety records required by authorities and company policies.
• Ensure shop and facilities comply with safety standards.
• Coordinate safety meetings and ensure adherence to safety guidelines.
• Recruit, interview, hire and train shop personnel; evaluate and discipline as needed.
• Conform to laws, regulations and company policies; coordinate safety meetings.
