Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• DOT certification for air brake inspection and annual vehicle inspections.
• CDL Class B within 6 months of hire.
• Prior supervisory experience in a shop or maintenance setting.
• Full set of hand tools required.
• Knowledge of welding, compactor repair, air brake inspection, vehicle inspections.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise all employees in the maintenance department by planning and directing work of shop personnel.
• Make repairs to vehicles and equipment and follow up on repairs performed by staff.
• Establish and enforce a preventative maintenance program and schedule all PM work.
• Maintain vehicle inspection, maintenance and safety records as required by laws and policies.
• Ensure shop and equipment comply with safety standards and company policies.
• Coordinate safety meetings and ensure adherence to safety guidelines.
• Recruit, interview, hire and train shop personnel; evaluate and discipline as needed.
• Conform with laws, regulations, and company directives; coordinate safety meetings.
