Job summary

Purple Line Transit Operators is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor in Hyattsville, MD to coordinate daily maintenance of vehicle fleets and supervise technicians. You will ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance while implementing maintenance programs and documenting activities.

The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, strong leadership, and the ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a transit maintenance environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree preferred; hands-on maintenance experience required.
• Minimum of 3 years in vehicle maintenance, including 1 year in lead/supervisory role.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing complex vehicle systems; familiar with OEM manuals and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise daily Vehicle Maintenance Technicians.
• Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance tasks are completed safely and to standards.
• Assist in implementing maintenance programs and documenting activities.
• Oversee vehicle handovers from contractors and inspections.
• Procure tools, benches, and equipment for maintenance operations.
• Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure quality and safety of work.
• Provide technical guidance on procedures and troubleshooting.
• Verify work orders; document labor, materials, and results in asset management system.
• Conduct routine inspections of vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Support maintenance indicators and preventive maintenance initiatives.
• Oversee subcontracted services related to cleaning or technical support.
• Enforce safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Respond to emergencies and direct corrective actions.
• Serve as acting lead in the Superintendent/Manager absence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
