Job summary

Everus Construction Group, Inc. is seeking a fleet mechanic to perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on company and customer-owned equipment with minimal supervision.

The role ensures rental readiness by evaluating equipment condition and functionality. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, 2 years of maintenance/repair experience or related diesel technology education, and the ability to work in demanding environments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; diesel technology training preferred.
  • Two years’ maintenance/repair experience or related education in diesel technology.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, rebuilds and repairs equipment used in the fleet and powerline sectors.
  • Performs service and repairs on hydraulics, electronics, trailers, and structural components to ensure rental readiness.
  • Inspects rope/cables for damage and performs splices to maintain integrity as instructed.
  • Identifies mechanical problems visually and with computer diagnostic systems.
  • Conducts routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintains records of time, materials, equipment condition, and repairs performed.
  • Tracks information in computer software for record accuracy.
  • Participates in safety training and maintains hazardous materials knowledge.
  • Complies with all established safety procedures and works with others effectively.
  • Other duties as assigned by business needs.

Job Summary

As a mechanic for the fleet department, you will perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to equipment both company and customer owned with minimal supervision. The fleet department ensures the equipment is ready for rent by evaluating the equipment is in good condition and fully functional.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • Two years’ experience in maintenance and repair of trucks and/or heavy equipment or education in diesel technology;
  • or related field or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Considerable knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Must be able to work in extreme elements
  • Experience with electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems
  • Must be able to follow all PPE requirements
  • Skills include use of power and hand tools, use of diagnostic equipment and experience with operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes
  • Attention to details
  • knowledge of safety practices and procedures
  • communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Job Responsibilities

  • Perform service and repairs on various systems including hydraulics, trailer wiring, electronics, and structural to ensure the equipment is rental ready.
  • Inspect the pulling rope and cable for damage and perform splices as instructed to maintain its integrity.
  • Identify mechanical problems visually and with computer diagnostic systems.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain records of time and materials used on each job, the condition of the equipment, and the repairs performed.
  • Track information in computer software to ensure accuracy of records.
  • Participate in training programs; maintain and update safety skills and knowledge; keep current with hazardous material training requirements.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, governing agencies and the public.
  • Other duties as assigned based on business need.
