Job summary

Midwest Landscape Industries in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Fleet & Facilities Manager to lead the shop, yard, and fleet operations. This hands-on leadership role oversees maintenance, vendor relations, safety programs, and regulatory compliance to keep trucks, trailers, mowers, and equipment ready for seasonal workloads.

The position requires 3+ years in related operations, strong budgeting, and the ability to manage two staff while coordinating with Operations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in fleet management, facilities management, or a related operations role.
• Experience in landscaping, construction, or a green industry environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of diesel and gas engine trucks, trailers, and outdoor power equipment maintenance.
• Familiarity with DOT compliance for commercial vehicles.
• Experience managing vendor and dealer relationships, including negotiating service agreements.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills; comfortable using fleet/maintenance software.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and train a team in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL a plus, not required.
• Ability to work occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends during snow/ice events.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, repair, and lifecycle management of the fleet of trucks, trailers, and equipment.
• Develop and manage a preventive maintenance program to minimize downtime.
• Track inspections, registrations, titles, insurance, and DOT compliance.
• Maintain maintenance records, service histories, and fleet utilization data.
• Manage dealer/repair shop relationships for timely service and pricing.
• Coordinate fuel management, cards, and cost control across the fleet.
• Plan seasonal fleet readiness with Operations leadership.
• Support vehicle/equipment purchases or leases including budgeting and vendor negotiation.
• Ensure drivers and equipment operators have proper safety training.
