Job summary

Shepeard Community Blood Center is seeking a Fleet and Facilities Assistant to ensure smooth operation of mobile blood collection vehicles and fixed sites. You will handle vehicle maintenance, supply ordering, and facilities upkeep in a regulatory environment.

The role requires 3–5 years in fleet or facility management, a valid CDL, and strong organizational and communication skills. Expect schedule activity across Augusta-area sites and after-hours support when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years in fleet and/or facility management.
• CDL required; clean driving record.
• Knowledge of DOT compliance and building systems.
• Healthcare or nonprofit environment experience preferred.
• Proficient with maintenance management software, MS Office, procurement and fleet tracking tools.
• Strong communication with vendors and regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, inspection, and repair schedules for all mobile vehicles and the support fleet.
• Ensure vehicles comply with local, state, and federal regulations including DOT requirements.
• Maintain records of mileage, fuel usage, inspections, repairs, and registration.
• Coordinate with mobile drive teams to schedule vehicle availability and rotation.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate maintenance contracts.
• Train staff on mobile Blood Mobile operation, safety protocols, and emergencies.
• Supervise maintenance and repairs of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and exteriors.
• Conduct facility inspections to address safety, security, and compliance issues.
• Coordinate janitorial, landscaping, and waste management.
• Ensure donor areas and storage spaces meet cleanliness and operational standards.
• Serve as primary contact for building emergencies, repairs, and upgrades.
• Train staff on proper vehicle and facility use, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
• Assist with setup of blood drive supplies and logistics.
• Respond to facility or vehicle issues outside of standard hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
