Job summary

Topaz HR Advisory is seeking an experienced Fleet & Equipment Manager for a well-established flooring distributor in Linden, NJ. The role oversees a commercial fleet, drivers, and material-handling equipment across multiple locations, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

The ideal candidate brings strong diesel expertise and leadership, with a track record in cost control, vendor management, and DOT/FMCSA compliance to maintain a top-grade fleet and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fleet, transportation, or fleet maintenance management experience.
• Strong diesel expertise with hands-on experience with trucks/equipment.
• Proven experience managing drivers with safety and accountability.
• Knowledge of Class 7/8 trucks, brakes, tires, hydraulics, and related gear.
• Experience analyzing fleet expenses and managing vendor costs.
• Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA compliance and maintenance records.
• Experience with Moffett, piggyback, or similar material-handling equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, safety, reliability, and condition of trucks and equipment.
• Lead drivers, setting safety, performance, and customer-service expectations.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs and coordinate repairs with vendors.
• Maintain fleet cleanliness, condition, and professional appearance.
• Evaluate rental, leasing, and ownership options including replacement planning.
• Analyze fleet expenses to identify efficiency opportunities.
• Ensure DOT/FMCSA compliance and proper inspection records.
