Job summary

Oldcastle APG, Inc. in Bulls Gap, TN is seeking a Dispatcher to coordinate daily dispatch activities and fleet resources to ensure safe, efficient operations. The role collaborates with drivers, customers, and internal teams to optimize service levels and maintain schedule integrity.

The position emphasizes DOT/FMCSA compliance, on-site responsibilities, and active engagement in safety programs and performance metrics to support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• DOT and FMCSA regulations applicable to commercial motor carriers.
• Familiarity with routing, payloads, cargo requirements, and maintenance considerations.
• Proficiency with transportation-management and other operational software platforms.
• Ability to travel domestically as business needs require.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily dispatch activities, including driver and equipment assignments, to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
• Maintain regular communication with drivers, customers, office personnel, and other stakeholders regarding schedules, assignments, service requirements, and changes.
• Monitor daily operations and adjust resources to address changing customer and business requirements.
• Support on-site responsibilities during off-hours as directed by the Fleet Manager.
• Assist with monitoring and improving overall operational performance.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with drivers and support driver safety, training, and development activities.
• Promote compliance with DOT and FMCSA safety requirements and company safety expectations.
• Develop and maintain operational performance metrics.
• Evaluate processes and recommend opportunities to improve safety, productivity, service and asset utilization.
• Participate in customer meetings and support sales/service discussions as appropriate.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships.
• Support company safety initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement in safety performance.
• Provide recommendations to Fleet Manager regarding improvements and resource utilization.
