Sanitary Disposal, a WasteConnections company, is looking for a Journeyman Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Hermiston, Oregon.

Schedule is Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Starting wage is $35-$38.00/hour DOE.

Safety Sensitive Position: Yes

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Repairs include but are not limited to routine maintenance and repairing engines, chassis and body components, hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, suspension systems, cooling systems, wheels, and tires.
2. Inspects equipment and/or trucks for condition, operations, parts, fluid levels, differentials, final drives, pump drives, and hubs.
3. Knowledge of hydraulics repair is required.
4. Utilizes vehicle computer systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
5. Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
6. Completes required paperwork using fleet maintenance software to document parts usage and repair times.
7. Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
8. Performs maintenance-related work as required.
9. Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
10. Performs safety protocols while working on vehicles.
11. Communicates effectively regarding needed repairs or tasks.
12. Requires strenuous physical activity, including heavy lifting over 50 pounds.
13. Work environment varies between indoors in a shop and outdoors on the road, often in awkward or tight positions, handling greasy or dirty tools. Safety precautions must be followed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. 3-5 years of relevant experience.
2. Valid Class A or B CDL with air brakes endorsement preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days.
3. Must provide own tools.
4. Welding/fabrication experience is a huge plus.
5. Must pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and have an acceptable motor vehicle report.
