Job summary

Cathay Transportation is seeking a dependable and skilled Bus Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team in Plattsburgh, NY. You will inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair buses to keep the fleet safe, reliable, and efficient.

The ideal candidate has experience with diesel engines, electrical systems, air brakes, and diagnostic tools, and can work independently or in a team with a strong focus on safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Experience in diesel mechanics, automotive repair, or heavy-duty maintenance.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, air brakes, and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and vehicle diagnostic equipment safely.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL and/or mechanic certifications preferred.
• Ability to lift heavy components and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance and safety inspections on buses.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and air brake systems.
• Perform oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and other scheduled maintenance.
• Inspect and repair engines, transmissions, suspension systems, steering components, and cooling systems.
• Identify mechanical issues and complete repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and repair documentation.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Communicate maintenance concerns and repair needs to the maintenance supervisor.
• Respond to vehicle breakdowns and assist with emergency repairs as needed.
