Job summary

FirstGroup in New York is seeking an experienced vehicle maintenance technician to perform routine and non-routine repairs on buses and vans, under minimal supervision, with a strong focus on safety.

You will lead diagnostics, maintain records, mentor junior technicians, and may serve as Shift Foreman. This role may involve road calls and emergency services as needed; a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Class B CDL with passenger endorsement required (or expected within 3 months of hire).
• State inspection license (if required). ASE Certification preferred.
• Must participate in ASE testing program (expected to have 6 ASE within 6 months of hire).

Responsibilities

• Maintain vehicles to FirstGroup standards with safety as the priority.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues with minimal supervision; mentor junior technicians.
• Lead or assist as Shift Foreman and participate in road calls and emergency services as needed.
