Job summary

Liberty Lines Transit Inc in New York state seeks a skilled Mechanic to maintain, diagnose and repair fleet buses, ensuring reliability, safety and on-time service. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, diagnostic testing, on-the-road repairs, DOT inspections, and documenting repairs; must read schematics and use hand tools; CDL preferred.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, ASE certification preferred, and 2 years of experience; strong communication and safety

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• ASE certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a mechanic preferred.
• Must have and maintain an excellent Driver’s License, CDL preferred; CDL required before 5th month of employment as a mechanic.
• Must have knowledge of diagnostic equipment and computer systems.
• Must possess a complete set of hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, tire/battery/lighting/fluids checks.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on fleet buses.
• Repair and rebuild engine/transmission/brake/electrical systems.
• Comply with DOT inspections and maintain records.
• Conduct road tests and road calls as needed.
• Document repairs and diagnoses clearly.
• Follow safety policies and procedures.
