Job summary

Baltimore City Government is seeking a Fleet Automotive Training & Development Manager to design and oversee a comprehensive training program for a city-wide fleet of 5,000+ vehicles. The role partners with OEMs and vendors to deliver hands-on and virtual training that improves efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities include leading the Fleet Academy, integrating new technologies such as EV and diagnostic systems, and managing budgets to ensure cost-effective training aligned with city goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
• Two years of experience in technical, administrative, professional or project management work and automotive maintenance.
• Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver’s license or equivalent; Baltimore City driver’s permit required.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a comprehensive fleet training program and curricula for technicians and operators.
• Oversee City’s Fleet Academy and coordinate with OEMs for tailored training materials.
• Develop and maintain a fleet-wide training calendar and catalog, including EV, telematics, and diagnostic updates.
• Lead safety initiatives, toolbox talks, and emergency drills to ensure compliance and reduce risk.
• Manage training budgets and resources, seeking cost-effective solutions and funding opportunities.
