Job summary

The incumbent will ensure a clean shop, comply with DOT/OSHA and university policies, and communicate effectively with the lead and other team members. This position requires a valid driver's license and relevant experience in a maintenance shop.

Qualifications

• Ability to work with limited oversight.
• English communication using appropriate automotive vocabulary to obtain and explain procedures relating to automotive repairs, service and maintenance.
• Proficient computer skills with an automotive work order system (such as Agile FleetCommander), Outlook, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Demonstrated skill in the use of standard automotive tools and equipment used on automobiles; safe handling of hazardous materials.
• Ability to read and understand technical automotive manuals.
• Ability to read and interpret measurement and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to write clear and concise diagnostic and maintenance reports.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to lift, carry, stack and move objects weighing 50 to 70 pounds.
• Ability to move about the Campus to gather information, materials and authorizations.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with organized workflows.
• Competency in providing good customer service and resolving problems with a pleasant demeanor.
• Ability to withstand exposure to automotive chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Repair and service vehicles, perform scheduled maintenance, and ensure efficient, safe operation.
• Maintain a clean, safe shop and report discrepancies.
• Consult with lead or other technicians as needed and coordinate with outside vendors as required.
• Ensure compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations and university policies.
