Job summary

JRP (James River Petroleum) in Ashland, VA, is seeking a Fleet & Asset Manager to oversee the performance, utilization, maintenance, and lifecycle of the company’s fleet across locations. The role combines data analysis, asset optimization, and vendor coordination to ensure the right equipment is in the right places and operating efficiently.

The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and proactive, able to work with Operations, Finance, Maintenance and field teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in fleet management, transportation, logistics, asset management, or a related field.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret operational data and recommend improvements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Operations, Finance, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Oversee JRP’s fleet across all operating locations, maintaining visibility into location, condition, assignment, availability, and status.
• Monitor and analyze fleet utilization, loads, revenue, mileage, downtime, maintenance activity, repair frequency, and operating costs.
• Develop fleet reports, dashboards, and KPIs to provide leadership with clear insight into asset performance.
• Identify underutilized, high-cost, unreliable, or out-of-service vehicles and recommend action.
• Oversee preventative maintenance and repair activity, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.
• Track repair status, downtime, maintenance costs, work orders, invoices, and recurring mechanical issues.
• Evaluate fleet distribution across markets and recommend transfers, replacements, or reductions.
