Job summary

Premise Inc. is seeking a Fleet and Tooling Manager to oversee the company’s fleet of vehicles, construction equipment, and tools. You will ensure safety, compliance, and cost efficiency while optimizing asset performance.

Key responsibilities include maintenance scheduling, procurement planning, budget oversight, and regulatory compliance. The role requires strong vendor management, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic warehouse environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in fleet and equipment management, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle and equipment maintenance practices.
  • Proficient in fleet management software (Tenna preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. CDL Class A preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor fleet-related expenditures and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Ensure drivers files are up to date and vehicles comply with safety/regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate insurance coverage for vehicles and equipment, as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for inspections, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Manage the company’s tool-tracking system and inventory records.
  • Coordinate disposal of outdated or damaged equipment in alignment with policies.
  • Generate regular reports on fleet performance, maintenance activities, and budget status.
  • Analyze fleet data to identify trends and suggest improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY: The Fleet and Tooling Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, procurement, and overall management of the company’s fleet of vehicles, construction equipment and tools. This position ensures that all company assets are safe, compliant with industry standards, and operating efficiently while optimizing costs and managing budgets.

Essential Job Functions
  • Fleet Management:
    • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and performance of all vehicles and equipment.
    • Implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and increase efficiency.
    • Track and analyze fleet metrics, including fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and usage rates.
    • Coordinate delivery of equipment and materials as needed to support operational needs.
    • Perform minor repair work on vehicles and equipment as needed.
    • Recommend procedures and process improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.
  • Equipment Procurement:
    • Assess project needs to determine equipment requirements and prioritize procurements.
    • Research and recommend equipment purchases or leases based on operational demands.
    • Obtain vehicle and equipment replacement costs and prepare specifications for new purchases.
    • Negotiate vendor contracts and supplier agreements for equipment purchases and services.
    • Manage vendor relationships and supplier agreements for equipment purchases and services.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control:
    • Develop and oversee the fleet and equipment budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
    • Monitor fleet-related expenditures and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure all drivers files are up today, vehicles and equipment adhere to safety and environmental regulations.
    • Educate drivers and enforce DOT compliance standards and company driving policies.
    • Maintain accurate documentation for inspections, repairs, and maintenance to meet compliance audit standards.
    • Coordinate or arrange insurance coverage for vehicles and equipment, as needed.
    • Conduct annual motor vehicle audits.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Manage the company’s tool-tracking system.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records for all equipment and parts, ensuring their availability.
    • Coordinate the disposal of outdated or damaged equipment in alignment with company policies.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Generate regular reports on fleet performance, maintenance activities, and budget status.
    • Analyze fleet data to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit, walk, lift, squat, push, pull, climb stairs, ladders and possibly towers, hear, see, reach, grasp and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, power tools, and equipment. The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift more than 50 lbs.

Working Environment

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will work both inside in a warehouse environment and outside in a warehouse/supply yard. The employee may be occasionally exposed to extreme weather conditions, including heat and cold, and wet or humid. The employee will work around moving mechanical parts, vehicles and other equipment. The employee may also work in areas where the noise volume is loud and constant. The employee must have the ability to work overtime and to travel to remote job sites which may require occasional overnight stays.
