Job summary

AV Gauge & Fixture South is a global leader in designing, manufacturing, and certifying checking fixtures for the automotive and non-automotive industries. This role reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor and focuses on preparing fixture details for final Assembly, with a commitment to safety and quality in a clean, professional work environment.

We seek a hands-on Toolmaker/Machinist with 1 year of shop-floor experience, able to read blueprints, operate Bridgeport mills, lathes and grinders,

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience operating machine shop equipment such as Bridgeport mill, lathe, grinder, or tumbler.
• Ability to use caliper, micrometer, and gauge block.
• Ability to read basic blueprints.
• Experience in manufacturing assembly is a plus.
• Familiarity with check fixtures, jigs and gauges is an asset.
• Able to multi-task with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Secure, measure, and cut raw metal stock to prescribed sizes.
• Square up metal blocks.
• Clean Black Oxide from details.
• Deburr edges to prescribed finish.
• Operate hand and power tools to shape work piece to prescribed finish.
• Keep a clean and organized work station.
• Adhere to Health & Safety guidelines and company policies.
• Other general labor duties, as required.

Summary:

Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, the incumbent will prepare various fixture details and components for the final Assembly process.

Job Terms:

Permanent, Full Time, 40+ hours per week

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Secure, measure and cut raw metal stock to prescribed sizes
• Square up metal blocks
• Clean Black Oxide from details
• Remove sharp edges on details through de-burring
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools to shape work piece to prescribed finish
• Keep a clean and organized work station
• Adhere to Health & Safety guidelines and company policies
• Other general labor duties, as required

Skills & Abilities:

• 1 year of experience operating machine shop equipment (Bridgeport mill, lathe, grinder, tumbler)
• Ability to utilize measurement instruments (caliper, micrometer, gauge block)
• Ability to read basic blueprints
• Manufacturing assembly setting work experience is an asset
• Familiarity with check fixtures, jigs and gauges is an asset
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively with minimal supervision
