Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 4–5+ years of accounting experience with strong fixed asset focus.
  • Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP and asset accounting processes.
  • Experience with capitalization, depreciation, transfers, disposals, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage fixed asset accounting from acquisition through disposal, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, improvements, and retirements.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Calculate and post depreciation and amortization per U.S. GAAP.
  • Prepare fixed asset journal entries and related reconciliations.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare fixed asset reports and analyses for management.
  • Assist with internal controls and asset inventories.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, procurement, and finance teams.
  • Support audits by providing schedules and documentation.

Job description

We are seeking a Fixed Asset Accountant to manage the accounting and financial tracking of fixed assets throughout their full lifecycle. This role will oversee asset capitalization, depreciation, transfers, improvements, disposals, reconciliations, and reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

The role will have a strong focus capital assets within an asset-intensive environment. The position will also support month-end close, audits, cost analysis, internal controls, and process improvements related to fixed asset accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage fixed asset accounting from acquisition through disposal, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, improvements, and retirements.
  • Maintain accurate fixed asset registers, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Calculate and record depreciation and amortization in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to fixed assets, including additions, disposals, depreciation, impairments, and adjustments.
  • Reconcile fixed asset subledgers to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare fixed asset reports, schedules, and analysis for management.
  • Maintain documentation related to asset ownership, registrations, equipment records, and other supporting records.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing fixed asset schedules and documentation.
  • Assist with internal controls, physical asset inventories, and capital expenditure processes.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, procurement, and finance teams to ensure accurate and timely asset accounting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve fixed asset tracking, reporting, and accounting processes.
  • Support ERP implementation and process improvements as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 4-5+ years of accounting experience, with significant fixed asset accounting experience.
  • Strong fixed asset accounting experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience with capitalization, depreciation, asset transfers, disposals, reconciliations, and fixed asset reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience working with ERP and/or fixed asset accounting systems.
  • IFS experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
