Job summary

Addison Group is seeking an experienced Fixed Asset Accountant for a contract role in the Atlanta area. The role emphasizes fixed asset accounting, CAPEX, CIP, reconciliations, and monthly close responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will manage fixed asset activity within a corporate environment, work independently, and partner with Finance, Operations, Procurement, Tax, IT and other teams. Onsite, full-time, roughly six months, with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on fixed asset accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of capitalization, depreciation, amortization and asset retirements.
• Experience with journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Role: Fixed Asset Accountant - Contract

Location: Marietta, GA

Employment Type: Contract

Duration: Approximately 6 months

Schedule: Full-time, onsite, Monday-Friday

Rate: $30- $35 / hr

Position Overview

A well-established corporate organization in the Atlanta metro area is seeking an experienced Fixed Asset Accountant for a contract assignment supporting its accounting team.

This position will have a strong focus on fixed asset accounting, capital expenditures, construction-in-progress activity, reconciliations, and monthly close responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing fixed asset activity within a larger corporate accounting environment and be comfortable working independently while partnering with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting activity related to tangible and intangible fixed assets.


• Review capital expenditure activity and determine appropriate accounting treatment under U.S. GAAP.


• Record asset additions, transfers, disposals, retirements, impairments, reclassifications, depreciation, and amortization.


• Maintain accurate fixed asset records and supporting documentation.


• Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.


• Reconcile fixed asset and project subledgers to the General Ledger.


• Perform construction-in-progress reconciliations and monitor projects through capitalization.


• Prepare fixed asset roll-forwards and other schedules supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.


• Investigate discrepancies and resolve accounting issues related to capital assets and projects.


• Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with accounting policies and internal controls.


• Assist with documentation and maintenance of fixed asset accounting procedures.


• Provide support for internal and external audit requests.


• Assist with SOX controls, testing, and related documentation.


• Support accounting initiatives involving system enhancements, process improvements, automation, and ERP-related projects.


• Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Procurement, Tax, IT, and other business partners on accounting matters.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience with a significant focus on fixed assets.


• Strong understanding of capitalization, depreciation, amortization, disposals, retirements, and capital projects.


• Experience preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.


• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.


• Experience reconciling subledgers to the General Ledger.


• Strong Excel skills, including the ability to work with large data sets and supporting schedules.


• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


• Effective written and verbal communication skills.


• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.


• Comfortable working in a fully onsite corporate environment.

Preferred Experience

• Construction-in-progress / capital project accounting.
