Job summary

Johnson Controls in San Antonio, TX is hiring a Fitter Welder Apprentice to gain hands-on experience in fabrication and welding. You will work under seasoned professionals, learning fit-up, fabrication and welding in a manufacturing environment.

The role requires at least 6 months MIG welding experience, ability to read blueprints, and adherence to safety. You will perform MIG welding with GMAW and plasma cutting, operate welding equipment, and contribute to continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• Have passed 2G plate welding test and 6G short arc pipe welding test.
• Minimum of 6 months MIG alloy and steel welding experience.
• High School Diploma, GED or certifications.
• Ability to read and understand production drawings and blueprints.
• Follow safety policies and procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and execute fit up, fabrication and core welding to vendors and managers.
• Read blueprints and specifications to ensure drawings function as designed.
• Maintain safe work practices and complete technical inspections.
• Prepare input for management reports and maintain detailed documentation.
