Job summary

Johnson Controls in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Fitter Welder Apprentice for the 1st shift (Mon-Sat, 5AM-3:30PM). You will gain hands-on experience in fit up, fabrication and welding under skilled mentors in a manufacturing plant.

You will apply MIG welding skills, read blueprints, and contribute to safety, quality, and productivity initiatives while developing essential shop-floor abilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months MIG welding experience with alloy and steel
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
• Follow Operation Description Sheet (ODS) and Training Documents
• Excellent safety awareness and adherence to policies
• Read and interpret blueprints and production drawings
• Strong teamwork and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Apply minimum 6 months MIG welding experience to production
• Operate Miller Aluma Pro Mig gun for fit up, fabrication and welding
• Use GMAW processes and Plasma Cutter as required
• Operate flame-cutting equipment and manage safe work practices
• Maintain accurate reports and documentation
• Assist in training and Kaizen activities
• Participate in 5S and continuous improvement initiatives
• Read blueprints and ensure parts meet specs
