Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Fitter Welder Apprentice at our San Antonio, TX plant. This role offers hands-on experience in fit up, fabrication and welding under experienced supervision, developing essential welding skills in a manufacturing setting.

The position emphasizes adherence to safety, quality, and process discipline, with opportunities to learn GMAW, plasma cutting and blueprint interpretation while contributing to production goals and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• 6 months MIG welding experience or more.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Follow operation descriptions and training documents.
• Maintain safety practices and quality orientation.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform fit up, fabrication and core welding to standards.
• Read blueprints and specifications to ensure proper fit and welds.
• Operate welding equipment including GMAW and Plasma Cutter.
• Maintain accurate reports and documentation of work.
• Practice 5S and participate in Kaizen events as required.
