Core Purpose

Position Purpose

Build a cohesive personal training team, ensuring a healthy pipeline of clients and an exceptional fitness experience for members.

Responsibilities

• Achieve sales targets month‑over‑month, driving membership growth and ensuring the team meets or exceeds set goals for new personal training agreements, client retention, and overall revenue generation.
• Collaborate with the membership sales team to support new member onboarding, driving sales initiatives, and establishing a smooth transition into the club experience.
• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise staff members, including Personal Training Managers, Assistant Fitness Managers, and Personal Trainers.
• Manage the payroll process for Assistant Fitness Managers and personal trainers to ensure team members are paid correctly and in a timely manner.
• Effectively communicate goals, expectations, and procedures to other department leaders and staff members, ensuring everyone understands their roles and responsibilities.
• Ensure all fitness staff have appropriate certifications and training such as CPR, First Aid, and personal trainer certifications.
• Provide constructive feedback to staff on performance, using clear and specific language to highlight strengths and areas for improvement.
• Ensure high‑quality customer service by addressing member concerns, managing membership inquiries, and resolving issues promptly.
• Engage with members in a friendly and approachable manner, actively listening to their needs and concerns and providing clear, helpful responses.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining proper certifications and implementing safety protocols.
• Supervise maintenance and cleanliness of the facility, including equipment, locker rooms, and common areas.
• Communicate calmly and clearly with staff and members during emergencies or disruptions to provide necessary instructions and updates.

Qualifications

• 2 years of management experience; fitness/personal training management is a plus.
• 3–4 years of customer service experience.
• Personal training sales experience is highly preferred.
• Prior experience or strong interest in the fitness industry.
• Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, for interacting with employees, management, and vendors.
• Excellent relationship building and influencing skills with people at all levels and in all functions.
• Strong detail orientation; systematic and thorough approach to problem‑solving, and good time management, organizational, and record‑keeping skills.
• Excellent MS Office skills.

Requirements

• Must successfully pass a background check.
• CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Must have valid PT certification.
• Previous sales experience required.
• Ability to work in a gym setting; move around club floors and rooms; communicate with employees, members, and the public.
• Ability to access and operate the company computer system, including preparing documents, entering data, reading reports or email.
• Ability to bend routinely and repetitively to lift more than 40 lbs.
