Job summary

City of Ketterings Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is seeking a Full-Time Fitness Coordinator to manage operations at the Fitness & Wellness Center and Recreation Complex. The role requires supervision of staff, program development, and adherence to department policies.

Qualifications

• Experience in management and industry (fitness instructing, health/fitness program development, fitness center operations) and supervisory experience preferred.
• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Exercise Science or a related field preferred.
• Personal training and/or health/fitness instructor certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for fitness membership sales, processes, procedures, and related transactions.
• Assists in hiring, training, scheduling, payroll approval and evaluating staff.
• Works with the Fitness & Wellness Supervisor to develop marketing strategies to promote membership, programs and events.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the budget.
• Assists in developing, implementing and meeting annual goals and objectives and strategic plans.
• Responsible for Fitness Center staffing during all regularly scheduled hours.
• Communicates with appropriate school personnel regarding facility closings and events and communicates those to patrons.
• Researches, develops and coordinates new and existing fitness and wellness programs.

Position Overview:

The City of Ketterings Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill the full-time position of Fitness Coordinator. This position develops and oversees operations at the Kettering Fitness & Wellness Center and the Kettering Recreation Complex as needed, including fitness/wellness staff, equipment and facilities, programs and activities. This position must have knowledge of modern fitness/wellness principles including fitness facility supervision, fitness equipment usage and maintenance. This position reports to the Fitness & Wellness Supervisor. This position offers a flexible schedule and will occasionally require early mornings, evenings, and weekends to support fitness operations, programs, special events, and the needs of our patrons and staff. While a regular schedule will be established, flexibility is essential to ensure adequate coverage and consistent support across our fitness facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for fitness membership sales, processes, procedures, and related transactions;
• Assists in hiring, training, scheduling, payroll approval and evaluating staff;
• Works in conjunction with the Fitness & Wellness Supervisor to develop marketing strategies to promote membership, programs and events;
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the budget;

• Follows through and enforces all policies and procedures established by the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department;
• Keeps abreast of community fitness/wellness programs and trends of the future;
• Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff members, volunteers and the general public;
• Carries out any assigned responsibilities relating to the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department as directed by the supervisory staff;
• Regular and predictable on-site attendance required.
