RIVERPLEX RECREATION & WELLNESS CENTER - PEORIA, IL
Part Time
$16.00 - $16.00 Hourly
Description

Duties: Under the supervision of the Fitness Manager, the Fitness Attendant is responsible for the following:

  • Adhering to all Peoria Park District safety and emergency procedures and policies.
  • Supervising activity in and around the Fitness Center, including rule enforcement.
  • Making members feel welcome, talking to them, and encouraging a positive social climate for all.
  • Being familiar with all of the equipment of the Fitness Center and noting if they are in good working order.
  • Enforcing time limits on equipment during peak use hours (the Fitness Manager designates times).
  • Assisting members/patrons with changing television stations.
  • Openly communicating with the Supervisor regarding various RiverPlex issues. Relaying information back to members as needed.
  • Initiating and completing daily checklists and returning it to the office at the end of the shift.
  • Making orientation appointments for Personal Trainers.
  • Keeping fitness floor, track, aerobic studio, yoga studio, RPM studio, massage therapy rooms, and storage closets clean.
  • Following all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed; supporting all aspects of the Park District’s safety procedures.
  • Performing all other duties as required.

Essential Functions: The work requires periodic physical exertion in handling supplies, equipment, and materials relative to the services rendered. Prolonged standing, bending, and stooping, and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds each leg of a repetitive unloading/re-loading process is required on a periodic basis. The programmed activities involve risks that are typically associated with athletic and fitness services or events, thus requiring normal safety precautions typical of the sports and fitness industry. Exposure to power requirements, chemicals, and various hand tools relative to athletic facility maintenance may be periodically required. The indoor work environment is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

Qualifications

Education: A minimum of two years of high school.

Experience: Previous experience in customer service preferred.

Knowledge and Ability:

  • Able to demonstrate proper use of all equipment in the Fitness Center.
  • Able to work cooperatively and harmoniously with people of all age levels in an enthusiastic manner.
  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
